Udyog Aadhar was the earlier MSME registration system, discontinued by the Government of India on 1st July 2020. All existing UAM holders must now migrate to Udyam — the current official system — to continue accessing government schemes, subsidies and loan benefits.
Understanding what happened and what you need to do
Businesses registered under the UAM system with a 12-digit number and received their MSME certificate.
ExpiredGovernment launched Udyam. The old system stopped accepting new registrations and all MSMEs were asked to migrate.
Action RequiredAll old UAM registrations became fully invalid. Businesses that had not yet migrated lost access to all MSME benefits.
Fully Invalid NowUdyam is now the only valid MSME registration. Migrate to activate your benefits and receive your certificate.
Active & ValidUdyog Aadhar (also known as UAM — Udyog Aadhar Memorandum) was a simplified online registration system launched by the Ministry of MSME, Government of India in 2015. It allowed Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises to self-register and receive a 12-digit number as proof of MSME status.
The certificate issued to registered businesses served as official proof that helped them avail government loans, subsidies, tenders and other benefits. However, the system had limitations — it relied on self-declaration without verification, making it prone to fraud.
Effective 1st July 2020, the Government of India permanently discontinued it and replaced it with the more robust Udyam system, which uses Aadhaar-linked PAN verification and is integrated with GST and Income Tax databases.
If you need to download your old UAM certificate for reference, you may still be able to access it from the government portal — however, it is no longer valid for any government benefit or scheme.
All UAM registrations are officially invalid since March 31, 2021. No new registrations are accepted under the old system. Any website claiming to offer "new Udyog Aadhar registration" is misleading.
Banks, government departments and financial institutions now only accept Udyam certificates. Without migrating, you cannot apply for MSME loans, subsidies or preferential tenders.
Migrating to the new system is straightforward. You need your old UAM number, Aadhaar and PAN details. Our experts can complete the entire process for you with minimal effort on your part.
Udyam comes with enhanced benefits over the old system — including integration with the TReDS platform, better access to credit, and auto-verification with government databases.
Understand what changed and why migrating to the new system is mandatory.
